This book accompanies the exhibition Port City Talks. İstanbul – Antwerp whose narrative is based on discovering the relationships between a port and its hinterland, takingas examples the landmarks and maritime entities of istanbul and Antwerp. Via Works that have been produced largely by young artists, the narrative – in which objects are placed in a multimedia setting – explores what a port and the presence of water mean fort he two cities.
Taking us on walk through Istanbul, a transit city in continual transition, we aim to introduce alternative views of both Istanbul and Anterp, redefined by artists’ points of view and enriched by archaeological objects and historical material. Digital Works appear on the inner walls of a light White construction, an abstraction of Istanbul’s shoreline.
